Euroleague, we love this game!

The Euroleague is the highest tier and most important professional club basketball competition in Europe! This year, because of the NBA lockout, the competition will welcome some of the biggest stars of the NBA including the likes of Nicolas Batum and Andreï Kirilenko. In the temporary absence of its American big sister, the Euroleague is likely to attract even more attention than usual, from Basketball fans worldwide. Unibet will stream every match of the season, so you can watch and bet on your favourite team and follow your former NBA favourites, from the first round until the final!

There have been 62 moves from NBA players to Europe so far, and more are set to come with rumours surrounding Kobe Bryant, in talks over a temporary switch to Virtus Bologna and the Gasol’s brothers joining Barcelona. As of today, the Euroleague—which consists of just 24 teams—will feature 17 players who competed for NBA teams in 2011.

Barcelona has Lionel Messi for Football, and Juan Carlos Navarro for Basketball! The recent Eurobasket champion and MVP is one of the best player in the world and his team are favourite to win the title this year at odds of 4.00 at Unibet. Barcelona didn’t spend much money in the transfer market this summer preferring instead to play it smart and scout around Europe for resources instead of looking further afield. Their key acquisition is one of the world’s finest point guards, Brazilian Marcelinho Huertas, bought in to replace Ricky Rubio.

Unibet’s second favourites are CSKA Moscow priced at 4.75. They will be one to watch after one of the most impressive off seasons of any Euroleague club. As well as NBA star Kirilenko they have also added a wealth of speed and athleticism by bringing the likes of Teodosic, Sammy Mejia and Kristic to their squad.

“Barcelona look very strong this year, not only because of their undeniable talents symbolized by Navarro but also because of the maturity their team seems to have reached” says Erik Bäcklund, Head of Sportsbook in Unibet.

“But the biggest stories surround the individuals set to join the Eurobasket league from the NBA. How will they fit in? Will their stars continue to shine, away from the bright lights and razzmatazz of the US courts? And of course the biggest of all – if the NBA is postponed anymore, how big will Eurobasket grow as it becomes the number 1 basketball league in the world?!”

Unibet already has odds online on which team will win the competition and which teams will top their group. Hundreds of odds will be online for all matches and a massive range of bet offers from MVP winner and Teams Top Scorers to Player and Team Specials. And of course Unibet will stream every match live so you can bet and watch on all the action, from tip off, until the shot clock runs down!
